Wireless Controller?

Posted in Thoughts on May 9, 2008 by Frank Vaughn

I love to play the X Box 360. The sports games are the ones I really enjoy playing. I’ll never forget a couple months ago when I actually lost one of my wireless controllers to the gaming system. You see without the controller I was unable to play. Needless to say Georgia had taken the controller hostage and hid it under the couch!

“But you are not controlled by your sinful nature. You are controlled by the Spirit if you have the Spirit of God living in you. (And remember that those who do not have the Spirit of Christ living in them are not Christians at all.) Since Christ lives within you, even though your body will die because of sin, your spirit is alive because you have been made right with God.” Romans 8:9-10

Today I feel pretty good, yesterday wasn’t so hot as I like so many others struggle with giving God full control of my life. It shouldn’t be “My” life it should be His inside of me. Sometimes it’s as if I take the controller of my life and give it to God only to take it back as a selfish gesture. In the passage above we see that we as Christian’s should be controlled by the Spirit. God does desire to be God in our lives however He gives us the choice until He ultimately steps in to end the hostage standoff. If your thinking that you are in control or that you have it all figured out let me warn you that when you are in control of your life it’s actually Satan that’s leading the way. He is the one pushing the buttons, making you jump, run, and walk away from God Almighty. Look at your life today and ask this simple question; Who’s in control of my life?

Fuel = Unity In Progress!

Posted in Thoughts on May 1, 2008 by Frank Vaughn

Last night I had the honor of sharing Jesus with about 600 students at Fuel, a city wide gathering of students at Hope church in Tupelo. The amazing thing about this event is that fact that a couple students got together and decided to try and break down barriers between church’s to unify the body of Chirst. It was great to see followers worshiping Christ in one accord. United in one voice, to one King!

Ephesians 4:4-6
“There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to one hope when you were called—one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all” .

It’s time for the body to be united. Have you ever thought about the work that our hands do or what about our feet? Could our hands actually do service if our feet can’t take us where God leads? Can our hands tie shoe strings in Africa if our feet don’t get us to the airport? If we are truly the body, we are almost incapable of doing the work of Christ until we realize that we are all important and that we are all in God’s desire to save the lost! May we unite together in hands and feet, under one passion to serve the King!

Chase God!
